GPs at Epworth Eastern

Epworth HealthCare conducts a very active education program for General Practitioners, including:

• Continued Professional Development (CPD) meetings for GPs

• Monthly meetings held at Epworth Richmond with an average attendance of 60

• In 2006 a similar program was started at Epworth Eastern. At this stage it is planned to hold quarterly meetings for GPs in 2007

• On-site education meetings are arranged at 4 of the large General Practices in the Eastern suburbs

• During each year, special education sessions are arranged including a Headache and Migraine seminar, a 2-week Palliative Care course and a 6-week comprehensive Cardiology course

In addition to the education activities, Epworth HealthCare assists General Practitioners by providing:

• A phone facilitation line to allow easy access to inpatient information for general practitioners Telephone: +613 9426 8504

• A referral phone facilitation line to assist GPs to make early appointments with specialists Telephone: +613 9426 8504

The GP facilitation office is also looking at the ways in which Epworth communicates with General Practitioners when their patients are admitted to the hospital.
