The Epworth Medical Library offers a wide range of databases, ebooks and ejournals for clinicians, health professionals and students. We can help with literature searches, locating articles, accessing medical databases, interlibrary loans, and research skills.

Study Facilities

The Library has facilities for group and individual study, computers, lounge and quiet areas.

Printing services

The library also provides photocopiers, black & white and colour printers, laminating and spiral binding machines, scanning and faxing facilities.

 

Our Services

 

Literature Searches

The library conducts literature searches on behalf of staff. Literature searches may be requested by completing a search request form, available from the library or via the library intranet. Students are encouraged to make an appointment with a librarian to consolidate their research skills.

 

Training

The library offers tutorial sessions on database/literature searching and using the online resources on the library intranet, in addition to general research skills. We can provide training at any Epworth site.

 

Interlibrary loans

Almost any book or article you require may be obtained for you via our interlibrary loans service. The library has access to resources both in Australia and overseas. Copies of articles may be requested by completing a request form at the Library or from the Library Intranet.

 

Our Resources

We provide a range of print and online resources to staff, consultants and students across all Epworth sites.

Many resources are available through the Library Intranet or the Epworth intranet, and the library catalogue is accessible via the hospital's Intranet from any Epworth site.


Resource Guides

Subject Guides provide a selection of resources specific to your clinical area, including ebooks, ejournals, databases, professional links and EBP.  Examples of Subject Guides include: Acute Care, Cardiology, Orthopedics, Neurology, Oncology, Rehabilitation, Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

 

Journals

The Library subscribes to a wide range of print and online journals in all areas of health, specifically our areas of specialisation. A complete listing of the library’s print and electronic journal holdings is available via the A to Z Journal List link on the Library’s intranet page, and the latest print issues are available to browse from the Current Issues stand.

 

Books

We offer you books covering all areas of EHC’s specialisation within medical, nursing and allied health.  We also collect in the areas of organisational management and related topics.  Our books are in electronic and print formats. Use the catalogue to find titles, renew and place holds, and we will send books to any Epworth site. 

 

Clinical Education Collection

We offer our premium Clinical Education Collection to all clinicians pursuing excellence in the education process. Coverage includes andragogies, simulation, leadership, coaching and mentoring, and translation within health service settings. Material is available in print and electronic formats.
