Pastoral Care

Pastoral Care provides spiritual, emotional and religious support and is available to assist patients and their family in times of need or crisis, and particularly during times of loss.  In respecting the need of each individual, the service offers a safe and respectful place to explore issues of meaning and purpose in face of life-changing circumstances.

On admission, patients are asked if they would like a visit from Pastoral Care or if they have any religious or sacramental needs. Once a patient's needs have been identified, Pastoral Care will incorporate support into an overall treatment plan and work within a belief system or framework to help explore ways that spirituality can play a part in healing.

The signifigance of establishing timely and appropriate support is a health care goal for pastoral practice and is paramount in achieving health and well-being.

Sacred Space
Epworth Freemasons' Sacred Space plays an important role in the support and patients, families and staff. It is a restful place that embraces everyone's respectful journey. Central to this space is the stained glass window Renewal and the hospital Memory Book, which is available to all who visit.
