Pastoral Care

Pastoral Care provides spiritual and emotional support and is available to assist you or your family in your need or crisis and particularly to support you during times of loss. At patient admission you will be asked if you would like a visit from Pastoral Care or if you have any religious or sacramental needs. Once a persons needs have been identified pastoral care will incorporate spiritual support into an overall treatment plan and work within a belief system or framework to help explore ways that spirituality can play a part in healing.

What we offer:

  • Support and accompaniment during hospital stays
  • The opportunity to talk to someone outside the normal circle of family/friends
  • A safe place where a belief, faith or value system can be explored
  • Freedom for religious and cultural expression
  • Visiting chaplains and clergy to meet particular needs and sensitivities
  • Opportunity for prayer, reflection and meditation
  • Special services and rituals
  • Memorial Services each year
  • Loss, grief and bereavement support and counselling
  • Care through education

The significance of establishing timely and appropriate support is a legitimate health care goal for pastoral practice and more specifically paramount in achieving well-being and health.
