Our Maternity Unit's 48 private rooms (and four twin share rooms) offer you comfort and security. Each private suite has an adjustable bed (single beds only), modern and spacious decor and is fully equipped with its own en-suite, mini fridge, television and telephone.
Should it be necessary to utilise the shared rooms during your stay, nursing staff will endeavour to move you to a single room at the earliest opportunity.
To accommodate partners, several private suites have queen size beds, allowing you and your partner the opportunity to relax and enjoy a few private moments with the new addition to your family.
The nurses' station is only a short distance away should you require any assistance or advice during your stay.
Relax at the Park Hyatt
Epworth Freemasons Outreach Program
With our commitment to providing high quality, safe care to all mothers and babies we are aware of the need to assist parents and families with the transition to parenthood.
The Outreach Program offers the same level of care as you will receive in hospital in a non-clinical, more relaxed environment. If you are eligible, you, together with your partner and baby will be able to spend the remainder of your stay at the hotel and will be discharged home from the Hotel.
Epworth Freemason experienced midwives will staff the Hospital in the Hotel 24 hours a day. The hotel is luxurious, restful and relaxing.
A strict criterion supports the transfer of women to the Park Hyatt Melbourne. Access to the program will be determined by your consulting obstetrician after the birth of your baby.
Physiotherapy
Classes are conducted daily in the educations room between 9.00am and 9.30am. The physiotherapist attends the Park Hyatt on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
Visiting Hours
Maternity visiting hours are 2.30pm to 4.00pm and 6.30pm to 8pm daily.
Partners and grandparents are welcome outside these hours except each day between 1.30pm and 2.30pm.
During this time, visitors are encouraged to allow the mothers some 'quiet time' to themselves and telephone calls are not put through to the rooms to patient rooms during this time, to ensure mothers have an opportunity to rest.
Your Meals
The Maternity unit has its own onsite food services department and you can expect food of excellent quality. The menu is extensive and varied to suit even the most discerning palates.
Our maternity unit dining service is available for both you and your partner to enjoy. Partners' meals are available at reasonable rates and will be billed to your hospital account accordingly.
Discharge Information
Following a normal delivery, discharge home is on Day 5, following the fourth night. Following a caesarean section delivery, discharge home is on Day 6, following the fifth night.
Should you decide to go home early, discharge packages are available. These may include a midwives visit and your choice of nappies, massage, infant massage, home assistance (cleaning or child care), meals, aroma baby lotions and oils, classic flowers or gift vouchers.
