The Epworth Geelong Teaching Hospital in Partnership with Deakin University will be developed in two stages.
Stage 1
The first stage of the Epworth Geelong Teaching Hospital development is planned to comprise:
- 202 overnight inpatient beds
- Nine operating theatres
- Two catheter laboratories
- Two procedure rooms
- Emergency Department
- Intensive Care Unit.
This stage will provide services for a broad range of acute specialties including:
- Maternity
- Cardiology
- Orthopaedics
- General surgery
- General medicine
- Respiratory medicine
- Chemotherapy
- Renal dialysis.
Stage 1 will also include therapy space for inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation services, including a hydrotherapy pool. This stage will also accommodate pathology, diagnostic imaging and back of house hospital functions.
Car parking is planned to ensure all requirements are fully met.
Stage 2
The second stage will consist of a further 192 inpatient beds, the provision of the rehabilitation centre and additional medical consulting suites. This stage may be delivered in sub-stages depending on future demand.
Increased car parking will be provided to align with the increased bed numbers and activity.
