Each clinical Division of Epworth HealthCare has its own Medical Advisory Committee (MAC) comprising leading clinicians appointed by their peers that advise the Hospital on matters involving credentialing, clinical care and operational matters.
Group Medical Advisory Council
Representatives from each of the four Divisional MACs then combine to form the Group Medical Advisory Council. The Group Medical Advisory Council advises the Board of Management on credentialling, clinical governance and other matters relating to clinical care and management.
The Chairman of the Group MAC, Mr Alan Crosthwaite, is a member of the Board of Management of Epworth HealthCare.
Medical Directors
In addition to the advice provided by the Medical Advisory Committee, Epworth HealthCare also has Medical Directors who assist administration in the management of Epworth in relation to clinician issues, clinical governance, credentialing, teaching and research activities plus strategic planning and development.
These positions are as follows:
| Medical Director - Epworth Eastern | Associate Professor Jack Mackay |
Medical Director - Epworth Richmond/Cliveden/Freemasons | Dr Peter Dohrmann |
| Medical Director - Epworth Rehabilitation | Professor John Olver |

The EMD is chairman of the Clinical Governance Council and of the Medical Staff Forum. The Clinical Governance Council is a committee of the Medical Advisory Council. The Medical Staff Forum comprises senior doctors who are employed by Epworth on either a whole time or part time basis.
Other important committees include the Anaesthetic Advisory Committee, the Infection Control Committee and the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee.
