Either on emergency admission, or post-operatively, patients sometimes need the special support of Intensive Care, which is constant, complex, detailed health care provided in various acute, life-threatening conditions.
Special training is necessary to provide intensive care. This area of medicine requires the most profound commitment and knowledge from carers, nurses and doctors, and we are extremely proud of both our very modern facilities across various campuses and also of our passionately dedicated our staff that work in this most skilled of all medical areas.
We are also particularly sensitive of the needs of relatives and friends of patients undergoing intensive care, recognizing that they may need extensive emotional support, and higher levels of information, delivered courteously and patiently.
Perhaps the most rewarding moment in a hospital’s life is when we see patients move from an unstable or critical condition to a situation which is less life-threatening. Thanks to the skills of our Intensive Care units, this is virtually a daily event.
Intensive Care Units are located at Epworth Richmond, Epworth Eastern and Epworth Freemasons. For further information, please click through to a campus.
