Operating theatres:

Lee Wing theatre suite

The Lee Wing provides six new, spacious, state-of-the-art operating theatres.

A new Siemens Artis Q hybrid biplane theatre, the first of its kind in Australia and New Zealand, makes Epworth Richmond the first private hospital in Victoria to offer open and endovascular capabilities for neurosurgery, cardiac and vascular procedures.

The hybrid biplane theatre combines advanced, high-precision imaging technology with a fully equipped surgical suite, providing the surgeon with unique insights into anatomical details as well as physiological and functional information during surgery.

The hybrid technology allows surgeons to perform minimally invasive procedures that result in safer, faster and more efficient treatment of patients.

The theatre will provide for acute treatment in all aspects of cerebrovascular disease, including ischaemic stroke, haemorrhagic stroke, aneurysmal subarachnoid haemorrhage and ruptured AVM.

In all six Lee Wing theatres, monitors, medical devices and equipment are suspended from the ceiling, within easy reach, while allowing operating theatre staff maximum mobility.

Smart operating room software allows surgeons to access current and previous diagnostic reports and images during the procedure, thereby improving accuracy and patient clinical outcomes. It also allows transmission of images and information during surgery, providing the opportunity for clinicians to participate in live education and training sessions.
