  • advice on breast self-examination and care

What to expect

What to bring and wear

Please bring any previous mammograms.

Wear a comfortable, two-piece outfit that you can easily change in-and-out of.

Don't use powder based deodorant before your consultation.

During your visit

The visit is easy. Everything is handled on-site in one place. A skilled, female doctor in breast examination completes a clinical assessment.

Given the comprehensive nature of the service, we ask that you allow up to four hours to complete the appointment.

In most cases, the required tests can be done on the same day. If your results need further investigation we organise one of our surgeons to see you on the same day or within 48 hours.

After your mammogram and/or ultrasound, the same doctor will explain the results of the test. She'll also provide advice on breast self-examination and the future care of your breasts.

 Our doctors will discuss your:

  • breast cancer risk factors
  • assess your symptoms
  • arrange the most appropriate investigations
  • plan any treatment if needed.

Fees

The cost of the breast test consultation depends on the services required. Fees are partly covered by Medicare.

If you don't need to see a breast surgeon, reception can talk to you about costs for any additional services.
