Cardiac arrest

We don’t always get the classic heart-attack symptoms

We don’t always get the classic heart-attack symptoms, and when something goes wrong with the heart, it happens quickly. So if you are worried about a cardiac condition, you’re better safe than sorry.

Typical heart attack symptoms are:

  • Chest pain or chest tightness
  • Pain down the left arm (but can be right arm or both)
  • Chest pain that worsens with exertion
  • Shortness of breath
  • Light-headedness
  • Sweating
  • Nausea and vomiting

Symptoms vary widely so if you suspect you’re having a heart attack, tell the people around you and call 000 immediately. Do not ignore chest pain lasting more than five minutes.
