Flu season

Prevention is the best medicine

While prevention is the best medicine, (think flu vaccination) if you are affected by the flu, the best thing for it is rest.

Taking time off work at the start of an infection (flu can be spread 3-5 days after onset and up to 7 days in children) can not only save your workmates from the spread, but resting your body might be the very thing that shortens the life of your bout of flu. Pregnant patients, the aged, the very young, and those with respiratory or other chronic illness are at risk of complications from the flu and hence medical review is advised.

Ongoing high fevers, shortness of breath, chills, chest pain require medical review also.

Always looking after you, Epworth Emergency 24/7.
