Epworth HealthCare is a private not-for-profit organisation, and charges fees for services. Hospital services include nursing care, accommodation, fees for use of operating theatres, meals and housekeeping.
Epworth has agreements with the major Australian health insurance funds. Most hospital fees are covered by private health insurance, with the exceptions of excesses, co-payments or exclusions. Patients are advised to check with their relevant health fund before admission to confirm their level of cover. If, after contacting your health fund, you require further information, you may contact the patient administration office on the relevant number below. All fees relating to medical practitioner care (excluding hospital fellows), and other non-hospital fees (see below) are charged separately.
Non-hospital fees will be billed separately and may include surgeon, anaesthetist, medical services, cardio-pulmonary bypass (perfusion), pathology, pharmacy, radiology/X-ray, physiotherapy and allied health practitioners (where no arrangement exists between Epworth and your health fund), and ambulance charges to or from Epworth.
For further information about fees and charges, please refer to hospital fees.
Medicare refunds some non-hospital charges, and your health fund may also cover a further portion but you will be required to pay the balance. If you have any questions on these charges please check with Medicare and your health fund.
Epworth accepts cash, cheques, EFTPOS and all major credit cards. Payment is required prior to admission.
If you have a query about your account, please use this account enquiry form or contact the accounts department directly.
