Occupational Therapy

Occupational Therapists aim to maximise a patient’s function and safety, and wherever possible, facilitate return to a person’s usual activities of daily living. Activities of daily living include personal care, domestic and community tasks, leisure, work and driving.

Services include:

  • Assessment of patients’ ability to complete relevant daily activities (personal care, domestic and community activities)
  • Teaching techniques to maximise independence in daily tasks
  • Prescription of aids and equipment to maximise independence
  • Home assessment to evaluate access, safety and independence in the home
  • Providing advice regarding home modifications and equipment
  • Discharge planning
  • Scar management
  • Manufacture and prescription of hand and arm splints
  • Co-ordination of return to work programs and vocational counselling (for Epworth Rehabilitation clients)
  • Driver rehabilitation programme
