Pain Management

Epworth Rehabilitation pain management programs target individuals with injuries or pain conditions that result from illness, work injury or road trauma that have not responded to usual rehabilitation care.

Persistent or chronic pain can be debilitating and may impact a person in the following ways:

  • Physically.  Reducing strength, endurance and movement.
  • Functionally.  Reducing ability to participate in and around the home, at work and within the community.
  • Emotionally.  Perhaps leading to a sense of despair, low self-esteem, fear-avoidance and relationship breakdowns.

Rehabilitation Consultants work closely with all Allied Health services, including Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Psychology and Exercise Physiology to ensure a tailored service is provided to each individual. The program is delivered by an experienced team and aims to assit individuals to return to daily and work activities, to achieve independence and ultimately improve their quality of life through using a range of tools and strategies, including understanding and managing this condition.

Most programs are provided on an outpatient basis. (Where this is not feasible, eg, for country residents, local accommodation arrangements may be explored).

Worksafe, TAC, DVA and private individuals are accepted pending a medical referral and approval by the relevant health fund.
