The rehabilitation team will organise referral to a vocational occupational therapist at Epworth Rehabilitation, when return to work has been identified as an appropriate goal. The vocational occupational therapist is a return to work specialist, and can liaise with your employer and insurer.
A workplace visit is organised and will involve the therapist, employer and the injured worker, to plan a graded return to work program. Any physical or cognitive difficulties are also taken into account when planning the return to work.
The therapist will review the program regularly, to increase the hours at work and upgrade the person’s duties as appropriate.
Vocational Counselling
Vocational Counselling can also be provided to explore alternative employment or work related course options for those who are unable to return to their previous employment. Students who have experienced a brain injury may also benefit from this assistance.
