Epworth Richmond has been operating at its current site on Erin Street for approximately 90 years, providing metropolitan and state wide specialist health services to the community. It provides state of the art services specialising in emergency care and intensive care, day surgery, cardiac care and rehabilitation.
The hospital performs a key function in the provision of health care in the community both in terms of the quality of health services it provides, along with its education and medical training programs offered for hospital staff.
The hospital is recognised within the Yarra Planning Scheme as a major centre of specialist medical services.
There is an urgent and vital need to upgrade and improve facilities offered by the hospital in order to meet patient needs and expectations.
It is important to ensure that the hospital will continue to provide quality services for the community within facilities that can adequately accommodate and provide the best possible environment for patient care and medical services.
The redevelopment will facilitate a new approach to medical training, based on teaching and research along the lines of the itnernationally renowned US private not for profit teaching hospitals, such as the Cleveland Clinic and Mayo Clinic.
The redevelopment will assist in positioning Epworth in Richmond as one of the leading hospital and healthcare facilities in Australia. It will deliver a significant new community benefit.
As a private, not-for-profit hospital group, Epworth relies on the generosity of donors to continue to provide world class health care. If you would like to contribute, please contact the Epworth Medical Foundation.
