Epworth HealthCare is embarking on a $400+ million Redevelopment at the Richmond site. The overall proposed Redevelopment project aims to deliver state-of-the art new & improved Operating Theatres and critical care facilities, acute and rehabilitation single room patient accommodation, innovative and purpose-built research and education facilities.

The Redevelopment of Epworth Richmond commenced in July 2010, providing a unique and exciting opportunity for Epworth to maximise its potential as a leader in innovative, quality private health care and continue to deliver better patient outcomes for the future.

To ensure ongoing delivery of patient care at the highest standard and minimal operational impact, the redevelopment has been structured to be completed in four stages. It is anticipated the entire project will be completed in approximately eight years.

Main Reception on Level 2 will be able to direct you to any destination required. Volunteers in the blue jackets or any Epworth Staff member will also be able to provide way finding assistance if required. Signage to redirect people will be placed in affected areas during the redevelopment.

The tower crane will be used to manoeuvre materials needed to build the new Bridge Road Tower, housing three new levels of consulting suites as well as refurbishment of lower levels to create exciting new clinical facilities. It is expected to be in place for the next 12 months.

At times you may hear loud noises and/or vibrations may be felt in certain areas of the hospital. Epworth Richmond will do everything possible to minimise discomfort during the construction to make your stay as comfortable as possible.

Ear plugs are available for patients, if needed. In addition, all patient beds have access to a personal TV and head sets for these are also available.

The redevelopment of Epworth Richmond will provide an increase of 330 overnight inpatient beds taking the hospital’s total overnight beds to 777.

The redevelopment will also increase the hospital’s number of operating theatres by 18 to a total of 35.

Access for longer term parking is via the Bridge Road car park entrance. There is also a short term patient pick up or drop off in the 15 minute car spaces which are located on Bridge Road, Erin Street, the Erin Street turning circle and Normanby Place.
