Discharge advice

Upon discharge from the emergency department (ED), you will be advised to follow up with your specialist, your local GP or return to the emergency department to be reviewed by one of our doctors. You may also receive a discharge advice summary, which details important information relevant to your condition or presenting complaint. Our usual practice is for your local doctor to automatically receive our discharge summary.

In an emergency department most diagnoses that are provided are provisional. This means it is sometimes not possible for the emergency department to be 100% sure of the cause of your problem. If symptoms come back or do not improve please see your local doctor or represent to the emergency department. If you return with the same problem within a two-week period you will not be charged the facility fee again.
