About
Epworth appointments: Medical Advisory Committee until 2018; Group MAC until 2018; Mitchell Chipman is a medical oncologist who practices in public, at The Alfred, as well as in private with rooms in East Melbourne next to Epworth Freemasons. His main interests are breast cancer, urogenital cancers and cancer complicating immunosuppressive conditions such as HIV. Clinical research is a mainstay of his practice. At The Alfred he sees skin cancer ( mainly SCC ) requiring systemic treatment usually in the context of a clinical trial. In the rooms breast cancer trials are run in conjunction with both industry and investigator driven research. The rooms, Victorian Breast and Oncology Care or VBOC, are mainly a multidisciplinary breast cancer practice with all disciplines co-consulting as well as 2 part time researchers. Mitchell also sits on a number of government and non-government health care boards and is a panel member for AHPRA. Outside of medicine he is a keen musician and supporter of the arts.
