About

Dr Sylvia Chen is a Cardiologist with expertise in managing patients with adult congenital heart disease, pregnant women with heart disease, and in Cardiac MRI imaging. Sylvia trained in clinical Adolescent and Adult Congenital Heart Disease, Obstetric Cardiology, and in Cardiac MRI at both the University College London and at the Royal Brompton Hospitals, United Kingdom. She has previously published research in these subspecialities of Cardiology.

Sylvia looks after 3 types of patients:

1. Patients with congenital heart conditions, that is heart conditions that patients are born with, such as tetralogy of Fallot, transposition of the great arteries and those who have had complex heart surgery like the Fontan operation.

2. Pregnant patients with heart issues, for example, congenital and structural heart conditions and cardiomyopathy (for example hypertrophic cardiomyopathy or LV non-compaction).

3. Patients who need heart assessment by cardiac MRI. Cardiac MRI has the unique ability to assess heart muscle abnormalities, and is excellent for imaging complex heart structures that other imaging modalities cannot do.
