Professor Athan is Professor of Medicine, Conjoint, School of Medicine Deakin University and Director, Department of Infectious Disease, Barwon Health. He is also Chair Health Care Infections group ASID and co-founder of the Geelong Centre for Emerging Infectious Diseases (GCEID). He is the health advisor to the Cotton On Foundation and MSF.
