Overview
In this education session Mr Rudolph will discuss thyroid nodules and parathyroid disease: epidemiology and pathogenesis, including clinical assessment and management. Discussion will include: when to refer a patient with a thyroid condition, when to arrange FNA of a thyroid nodule prior to referral, the ACR-TIRADS classification and next investigations/referrals - bloods, imaging, biopsy and surgery. The presentation will include case studies and the opportunity for Q&A.
Learning Outcomes
- Identify appropriate investigations for patients with thyroid nodules.
- Explain the indications for surgery and outline the rationale for surgery vs conservative management in non-malignant nodules.
- Produce a safe management plan for patients presenting with nodules in the general practice setting.
