About
I am a specialist obstetrician practicing privately at the Epworth and I am also an Associate Professor of Obstetrics at the University of Melbourne and I love what I do.
I completed my internship and general medical training at the Royal Melbourne Hospital. I underwent my speciality training in obstetrics and gynaecology at the Royal Women’s Hospital and completed advanced training in obstetrics with Mercy Perinatal in the Maternal Fetal Medicine Unit, High risk pregnancy unit at the Mercy Hospital for Women.
I am an Associate Professor of Obstetrics at the University of Melbourne and I head a multidisciplinary team of scientists and engineers. My group, the Obstetric Diagnostics and Therapeutics Group, is focused on developing novel diagnostics and treatments for pregnancy complications including stillbirth, fetal growth restriction and preeclampsia. We have an international presence and present our work globally. I am also a training supervisor for obstetricians and on a number of advisory boards for our national college, the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RANZCOG).
I am passionate about obstetrics and I love the fusion of clinical practice and caring for patients with normal and more complicated pregnancies and developing the science to one day bring more babies safely home.
Despite all of this, perhaps my greatest achievement can be found much closer to home, in my 2 beautiful daughters. They bring our family so much love, laughter and joy and I really couldn’t imagine life without them. Having experienced pregnancy and birth myself I realise there is so much more to obstetrics than the physical and medical components. There is an emotional layer and listening to you and understanding your needs and expectations is key.
