Dr Alexandra Murphy has demonstrated a long standing commitment to the cardiology field, with completion of advanced fellowships in cardiac imaging and imaging for structural intervention. She entered the Cardiology Advanced Training program at the Austin Hospital, following which she became a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP). Dr Murphy has a special interest in the cardiac management of patients with cancer and is the lead physician in the newly founded Cardio-Haematology clinic at the Austin Hospital. She is a PhD candidate at the University of Melbourne, and her PhD thesis "Optimising Cardiovascular Outcomes in Patients with Cancer" is supported by scholarships from the National Heart Foundation, National Health and Medical Research Council, the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand, and Meadownick Research Foundation.

Dr Murphy has a public appointment at Austin Health. She has also recently been awarded a Fulbright Future Scholarship and will continue her Doctoral studies at Mount Sinai Medical Centre in New York City in 2022.
