Dr Peter Wein was born in Melbourne. He studied at the University of Melbourne and did specialist training at the Women's and the Leicester Royal Infirmary. He obtained his FRANZCOG in 1991. Dr Wein was a senior lecturer at the University of Melbourne. He was a consultant at the Women's, head of the Diabetes Unit, and Director of Birth Suites. He is now at the Mercy and the Women's at Sandringham, attending antenatal clinics, and on the labour ward consultant roster. Work in the public system helps to maintain his knowledge in the field and return something to the system that trained him. Dr Wein has an interest in diabetes in pregnancy. He is committed to medical education. Dr Wein's practice is patient-focused, with an emphasis on the application of the best evidence. He provides patients with information so that they are informed partners in decision making. Dr Wein is not in a weekend roster and is nearly always available. Therefore, if you are his patient, there is a 90 chance that he will look after you in labour. Dr Wein's practice is family-oriented his father was an obstetrician. His oldest son is a doctor, and his middle son is a medical student.
