Dr Philip Smart trained in General Surgery at Royal Melbourne Hospital before completing an Epworth Colorectal Fellowship and MD with Prof A Heriot and A/Prof J Mackay. He then completed a Fellowship in colorectal surgery at the Cleveland Clinic in the US. He is the Head of Surgery at The Surgery Centre, Austin Health, the Deputy Directory of Surgery, Anaesthesia and Procedural Medicine at Austin Health, and a member of the Eastern Colorectal Specialists Group based at Epworth Eastern.
