About
Yahya began his basic surgical training in Iraq, before moving to the UAE and then the UK where he obtained Membership with the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (MRCSI). Later, he moved to Australia to pursue his advanced surgical training through Austin Health in Victoria and went on to obtain Fellowship of Australasian College of Surgeon (FRACS). After that, he took a fellowship year in the Acute Surgical Unit at Eastern Health, and then a further 3 years of subspecialty training in upper gastrointestinal tract surgery and interventional endoscopy through Australia and New Zealand Gastro-oesophageal Surgical Association (ANZGOSA) training program. Through his ANZGOSA training, he rotated through cancer centres in WA and Victoria. Recently, he has become an Associate Fellow of the American College of Surgeon (ACS).
Yahya has special interest in minimally invasive upper gastrointestinal surgery and endoscopy. He performs both laparoscopic and open surgeries for benign and malignant upper gastrointestinal surgical conditions, in addition to general surgical conditions (e.g. hernia, gallbladder and biliary tree surgery, appendix and endoscopies). He also does interventional endoscopy, including ERC, Gastroscopy (including stenting and Colonoscopy).
