About

Mr Yee Chan is a Melbourne urologist who specialises in robotic surgery, urooncology, benign prostatic hyperplasia and stone disease. He was one of the first urologists in Melbourne who performs minimally invasive keyhole surgery. These include laparoscopic radical prostatectomy (removal of prostate), nephrectomy (removal of kidney), partial nephrectomy (partial removal of kidney) and other complex reconstructive surgeries. He has since transitioned to performing these surgeries using the robot since 2005. Mr Yee Chan has strong belief in holistic approach to patient care. He understands the importance of maintaining good communication with patients. Mr Yee Chan's career is highlighted by his major role in establishing minimally invasive keyhole surgery in urology at the Austin Health and Epworth Freemasons. He performed the first laparoscopic donor nephrectomy for the live kidney donor programme of the Austin Health in 2007. With his experience in minimally invasive surgery, he is a proctor for younger urologists who are learning robotic surgery. He is also involved in teaching and mentoring of urology registrars and overseas visiting fellows in laparoscopic surgery at the Austin Health.
