About
Mr Koppert is an accomplished general surgeon with a broad interest in general surgery and endoscopy (gastroscopy and colonoscopy). He has a particular interest in reflux (GORD/heartburn) management and bowel cancer screening. His general surgery procedures include laparoscopic cholecystectomy, hernia repair, diastasis recti repair, appendicectomy, breast biopsy, carpal tunnel release, ganglion excision, haemorrhoid treatment, anal skin tags, fissure and fistula, rectal mucosal prolapse, ingrown toenails, abscess drainage, pilonidal sinus, skin lesions and cysts/lipomas, hydrocele and vasectomy.
In addition, Mr Koppert has developed a successful non-surgical practice in managing clients with TMJ, teeth grinding, clenching, neck pain and associated migraines.
Mr Koppert obtained his medical degree in 1988 from the University of Utrecht in the Netherlands and received extensive surgical training in Europe, Canada and the USA, obtaining three Fellowships. After settling in Australia in 2000, Mr Koppert served as a Director of Surgery, Associate Professor of Surgery, and Supervisor of Surgical Training. Mr Koppert now practices as a full-time private surgeon from his rooms at Epworth Hawthorn.
