About
Dr Philip Michael treats children and adults with general ENT conditions.
He sees children who have tonsillitis or sleep problems, such as sleep apnoea due to obstruction from tonsils or adenoids as this can also potentially help with their daytime tiredness, behaviour and development both from a growth and cognitive perspective. He uses a technique called 'coblation' to perform a tonsillectomy, tonsillotomy or adenoidectomy which can help to reduce pain after a tonsillectomy. He also performs grommet surgery to help children with frequent ear infections or children with hearing loss due to glue ear. This may also help with speech development.
Dr Michael trained at the Birmingham Children's Hospital in the UK, and has undertaken advanced training in rhinology (nose conditions) including facial plastic surgery and sinus surgery. He has expertise in cosmetic and functional rhinoplasty ('nose job'), as well as endoscopic surgery for the sinuses. He provides details regarding procedures on his website including rhinoplasty operations - https://www.drphilipmichael.com/rhinoplasty.
He has interests in teaching and research, and is a senior clinical fellow of the University of Melbourne and values the opportunities with teaching appointments of educating the future generations of surgeons.
