About

Miss Melanie Walker is an experienced breast surgeon who treats benign and malignant breast disease. Having obtained her Fellowship in General Surgery in 2002, she then completed a three year specialty breast surgery Fellowship in the UK. Melanie is an expert in the treatment of breast cancer, at the forefront of new surgical techniques and is heavily involved in the teaching and training of breast surgeons in Australia & New Zealand. Melanie has a special interest in oncoplastic breast surgery, that is, the combination of optimal cancer surgery with plastic surgical techniques to achieve the best oncological and aesthetic outcome after breast surgery. Melanie is President of BreastSurgANZ, the specialist society for treating breast disease in Australia & New Zealand. She is a Clinical Lead for the Australian Breast Device Registry (ABDR) and serves on a number of strategic advisory groups including Breast Cancer Network Australia (BCNA) & the Australian Access to Breast Reconstruction Collaborative Group.
