The Clinical Coaching / Supervision workshop is designed to support and guide clinical Health Professionals who are transitioning into supervisory roles or early career education roles. This workshop focuses on building knowledge and capability to effectively guide learners as they adapt to practice and develop new skills and competencies in the clinical setting. This workshop is ideal for those staff who have a demonstrated aptitude and appetite to continue on a career pathway in education.
Coaching and supervision is an integral component of our roles as health professionals, support lifelong learning and professional development of others.
Entry Requirements
- Registered, Enrolled Nurse or Midwife at Epworth HealthCare
- Grade 2-3 Allied Health Professionals
- Endorsement by your direct line Manager
Duration
- 4-hour workshop
- Six workshops annually
Program Structure
This workshop is delivered using a combination of group work, reflection and activities to aid translation of key concepts into practice.
Learning Content
The workshop is designed to give you the fundamental components in understanding key responsibilities of coaching and supervising others.
Topics covered in the face-to-face workshop include:
- Learning styles and teaching strategies
- Tools to help develop learners’ critical thinking
- Communication and feedback
- Difficult conversations
- Supporting the underperforming learner
Applications
Registration through the Epworth Learning Management System. This program is also facilitated as part of Development Day 3 of the Epworth Graduate Support program
Pathway to further study
Registered Nurses and Midwives who complete this workshop will have opportunities for further development and exploration of specialist and facilitation roles.
