This workshop is thoughtfully designed for registered Nurses and Midwives who are stepping into facilitation or early-career education roles. It focuses on building the knowledge, confidence, and practical skills needed to effectively mentor and support learners of all stages of career development.
Whether you're new to clinical education or looking to deepen your impact, this workshop is ideal for those with a passion for teaching and supporting learners and a desire to grow along an educational career pathway.
Entry Requirements
- Currently employed as or Clinical Nurse / Midwife Educator
- Have previously completed the Clinical Coaching / Supervision workshop (recommended)
- Endorsement by your direct line Manager
Duration
- Full day workshop
- Three programs are run annually
Program Structure
This full day workshop is delivered using a combination of group work, reflection and activities to aid translation of key concepts into practice.
Learning Content
The workshop is designed to give you the fundamental components in understanding key responsibilities of facilitation and education roles.
Topics covered in the face-to-face workshop include:
- Contemporary learning theories and application to clinical skills teaching
- Educational terminology
- Principles of small group facilitation and clinical skills teaching
- Interprofessional education
- Components of course design
- Scenario-based teaching and its application to clinical skills training

Pathways to further study
Clinical Facilitators and Clinical Nurse / Midwife Educators who complete this workshop are invited to undertake a two-day program to further develop and advance skills in clinical teaching and simulation.
Sites program is offered
This workshop is open to Nurses and Midwives across all Epworth sites who hold facilitation or education roles.
