Our clinical leaders across Epworth HealthCare hold a key leadership role that is integral to ensure effective management of a department. This is achieved through balancing and prioritising the operational requirements and patient centered clinical care, whilst demonstrating self-awareness and understanding behavioural impact on others. The program aims to align expectations and understanding of this leadership role with day-to-day responsibilities.
Entry requirements
- Be working as an ANUM in a clinical unit at Epworth HealthCare
- Be able to attend all three days of the program
- Endorsement by your direct line Manager
Duration
- Four programs are run annually
- The program is delivered over 3 days (workshops), over a 6-week period
- Program 1 – February / March
- Program 2 – April / May
- Program 3 – July / August
- Program 4 – August /September
Program structure
Undertaking this program, you will commit to a total of 22.8 hours in content delivery which includes attendance at face-to-face workshops, as well as pre and post work.
The modules are delivered with a combination of group work, reflection and activities to aid translation of key concepts into practice.
Learning content
Topics covered in the face-to-face workshop include:
- Module 1 (7.6 hours) Leading Self
Vision, Values, Strategies, Role Alignment, Emotional Intelligence and Styles at Work. - Module 2 (7.6 hours) Leading Others/Unit
Budgeting, KPIs, Workforce planning and Rostering, Quality, Safety and wellbeing. - Module 3 (7.6 hours) Leading your Shift
Putting it all into practice; Delegation, Role Modelling, Allocating for Safety, High Performing Teams, Patient Experience and Leader Rounding.
