Our Self-Funded Maternity packages offer a three-night stay for vaginal birth and four-night stay for a caesarean birth. As not all births are the same or go to plan, our team can inform you about any potential costs you may encounter as a self-funded maternity patient at Epworth.

Your stay

Self-funded maternity patients will experience all the benefits of private maternity care, including:

  • Continuity of care. Choose your own obstetrician who will be there for you throughout your pregnancy, birth and beyond. Find your obstetrician.
  • Comfort and privacy during your stay. Enjoy your own room, with a double bed, where you can recover and get to know your newest addition.
  • Partners can stay overnight. We know how important it is for Epworth mums to have their partners stay with them in those precious early days.
  • A-la-carte dining. During your stay, enjoy freshly prepared meals from our kitchen, prepared by our team of dedicated chefs. Check out our menu *Menu may change seasonally
  • Modern facilities. Be cared for in our modern birth suites, postnatal ward and Special Care Nursery, featuring the latest equipment and near operating theatres and an Intensive Care Unit, if required.
  • A team by your side. Working alongside side your chosen obstetrician, our team of experienced midwives, nurses, paediatricians, anaesthetists, educators and allied health staff are there for you and your baby.
  • Park Hyatt Experience. Self-Funded patients have the option of being transferred to Park Hyatt for part of their hospital stay. *Subject to obstetrician clearance and availability.

How it works

If you would like to proceed as a Self-Funded Maternity patient, follow the below steps:

1. Speak to our Epworth Maternity Concierge

Call our Epworth Maternity Concierge on 03 8807 7606 (option 4) for information on fees, obstetricians and to book a tour.

2. Obtain a referral from your GP

3. Obstetrician appointment

Have you first consultation with your obstetrician and let them know you would like to proceed as a self-funded patient.

4. Secure your booking

Your obstetrician will arrange your booking with Epworth.

5. Make a payment

Pay for your stay in full, two months prior to your baby’s due date.

6. Prepare for the arrival of your baby

Pack your hospital bags.

Epworth will only provide you with the costs associated with your hospital stay.

It’s important to have a clear understanding of all costs associated with being a self-funded patient before proceeding.

Payment information

Self-funded maternity patients are responsible for covering all costs associated with their admission. Fees and charges payable to Epworth do not include obstetrician, paediatrician, anaesthetist, specialist fees or out-of-pocket costs for pathology, pharmacy and medical imaging.

Full payment is required two months prior to your baby’s estimated due date.

We offer a variety of payment methods to accommodate your preferences, including credit card, bank transfer, or cash. Payment instalments can be arranged prior to this date.

Understanding your treatment costs

Epworth aims to provide clear and accurate estimates for your treatment costs before your admission. However, in some cases, additional fees may arise due to unforeseen circumstances during your care or follow-up treatments, such as care in our Intensive Care Unit or Special Care Nursery.
