After the birth of your baby, rest assured our midwives are here to support you. Our highly skilled lactation consultants are also available to provide additional, more specialised breastfeeding support on the postnatal ward as needed. Speak with your midwife to arrange a visit from the lactation consultant.

If you need additional support with breastfeeding once you go home, our lactation consultants will be able to help with a personal consultation in the Maternity Hub, or telehealth or a telephone call.

Lactation consultants can help you with:

  • Understanding your baby’s cues
  • Positioning and attachment at the breast
  • Sore nipples
  • Milk supply concerns
  • Feeding support for twins or babies who have been in Special Care Nursery
  • Removing a nipple shield

Find us in the Maternity Hub - Suite 116 on Level 1, 320 Victoria Parade East Melbourne. When you exit the central lift on Level 1, walk straight ahead down the hallway and look for the glass doors.

    The Breastfeeding Clinic does not operate over weekends, after hours or on public holidays.

    There is no item number for breastfeeding clinic appointments. Our midwives and lactation consultants practice under the Epworth hospital provider number.

    Health Fund Rebates

    There is no item number for breastfeeding clinic appointments. Our midwives IBCLC's practice under the Epworth hospital provider number. As we do not deal directly with health funds, please contact your health fund to confirm if you are eligible for reimbursement.

    Refunds

    Refunds are available if your cancellation is received 72 hours prior to your booked appointment time.

    HCF Health Insurance

    *** Appointments for Epworth HCF patients are provided at no charge from 0-3 months of your baby's age. Fees apply for appointments after 3 months of age.
