Epworth Eastern commences early stage demolition

Epworth Eastern has commenced early stage demolition at 25 Nelson Road as part of its expansion and redevelopment project.

From Friday 19 October staff no longer have access to the vacant flats site located adjacent to the hospital.

Perimeter mesh fencing has been installed with site security present in order to disconnect key services and remove eave asbestos through a certified hygienist.

There is expected to be minimal impact to staff with traffic management on site as required.

This is the beginning of a new chapter for Epworth Eastern which will see the construction of a new 14 -storey tower in partnership with Northwest Healthcare Properties Management.

The East Wing Tower will be built at the vacant flats site and will link to our existing hospital and medical centre.

The East Wing Tower will facilitate the expansion of services and facilities including:

  • A brand new emergency department
  • Three new clinical floors
  • Additional operating theatres
  • Additional consulting suites
  • AND additional car parks

This increased capacity for staff and doctors will see us employ in excess of 160 additional staff.

Staff who have any questions or concerns in relation to early stage demolition activity or future construction of the East Wing Tower should email Executive Director, Louise O’Connor or email the redevelopment team at eastern.redevelopment@epworth.org.au

Epworth Eastern’s redevelopment team will continue to update keep staff and key stakeholders updated through Epworth Eastern’s Redevelopment Update bulletin.
