How to apply and what to expect

  • Step 1 - Browse current opportunities

You will find a list of current job opportunities in the Epworth Careers Portal. There’s also the opportunity for you to submit an expression of interest for consideration for future roles.

  • Step 2 – Apply

Your job application can only be submitted through the Epworth Career Portal. Once you are set up, it’s a simple step-by-step process. You’ll be asked for information such as your personal details, a relevant CV, a cover letter (if required), acknowledgement of some pre-employment requirements and finally your consent to submit the application.

  • Step 3 - Selection process

Once you have submitted your application, we will review your application and shortlist successful candidates. If your application is shortlisted, we’ll reach out to you and have an initial conversation about the role and what you’re seeking in your next opportunity. From there, if there’s a match (you’re interested + we’re interested), you’ll be invited to an interview. If you are unsuccessful in being shortlisted, you will receive an email from us, however we encourage you to register your interest for future opportunities.

  • Step 4 – Interview

You’ll participate in a blended interview, which is a mix of technical and behavioural questions where you will also have the chance to ask us questions. From there, we’ll reach out to conduct reference checks on candidates for final selection. Our final selection is based on all elements uncovered by us throughout the complete interview experience.

  • Step 5 – 'Get to know us' discussions

During your application journey, we’ll try to have you meet as many relevant people through the process to help you to decide if Epworth is right for you. You will speak with your new line manager and on occasions, a couple of team members, a member of our People & Culture team or a senior manager.

  • Step 6 – A formal job offer or meaningful feedback

If you’re offered a position and you accept (we hope you do!), you’ll negotiate a start date. Read ‘Your first 90 days with Epworth’ to learn more about what to expect next. If you’ve been invited for an interview and we don’t progress with you, the hiring manager will reach out to you and give you some constructive feedback. We aim to notify all unsuccessful candidates by email, to advise you of your application progress.

  • Timeframes

Our job advertisement will include an application close date. If your application is successful, you may hear from us before the close date. Generally, you’ll hear from us between two to four weeks from the close date to know if you’re progressing to the next stage, being considered, or aren’t progressing.

Your first days with Epworth

Before Day 1

If you’re offered a position and you accept, we will agree to a start date. To set up effectively, please allow yourself ten business days to move through the on-boarding experience and complete all e-learning modules. You’ll provide us with your bank account details, tax file number, superannuation information, health check, immunisation check and any other role-specific requirements. Our e-learn modules will give you more insight into Epworth and assist you in starting your new job! When completed, you’ll be set and ready to come to complete your orientation on Day 1. Welcome onboard!

Day 1 and beyond

On your first day at Epworth, you will meet your manager and team to become acquainted with your department. Orientation material is available online and you will be introduced to our strategy and vision, health, safety and wellbeing protocols and understand the importance of our patient experience at Epworth. The online orientation material will emphasise our commitment to inclusion and cultural diversity, including our support for the health and wellbeing of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait community and the LGBTIQA+ community.

Your manager will arrange buddy shifts with experienced staff members to assist your transition. They will also set up regular times with you to point you in the right direction, answer your questions and link you in with where to access training and relevant information to help with your role.
