Robotic Surgery at Epworth

Epworth HealthCare is an Australian leader in robotic surgery. We pioneered the use of da Vinci® robotic system in 2003 for the first robotic-assisted radical prostatectomy in Australia at Epworth Richmond. We have continued to innovate, and many Australian-first procedures have been performed at Epworth using the robots in the areas of urology, cardiology, gynaecology and general surgery.

Epworth is the busiest centre of robotic surgery in Australia. We have da Vinci® robots at Epworth Richmond, Epworth Eastern and Epworth Freemasons. Over 4,000 surgical procedures have been performed using our robots, and more than 40 Epworth-accredited surgeons are trained to operate them.

Epworth has appointed the Clinical Institutes to oversee robotics at Epworth across each hospital and specialtyOur specialists collaborates with other organisations to train Australian surgeons in robotic surgical techniques.

We are committed to ongoing research. Epworth’s surgeons have presented multiple scientific papers and published internationally documenting the Epworth experience.
