About
Mr Frank Chen attained his Royal Australasian Surgical Fellowship in 1993. He spent a further 3 years in specialty Colorectal Surgical training both in Australia and in the prestigious Cleveland Clinic. He has been a consultant colorectal surgeon at Box Hill Hospital since 1998. He has been the Head of the Colorectal Surgical Unit, has in this time, helped raise funds to established the Anorectal Physiology Laboratory and the Multidisciplinary Team Meetings treating colorectal cancer. He has been on various working parties, advising the Federal Health Department on many aspects of colorectal cancer care.
He remains the principal supervisor and instructor for endoscopy in the Colorectal Unit. He participates in audit and research, has presented at numerous scientific meetings and has published over 24 peer reviewed scientific papers. He is a member of the Colorectal Surgical Society of Australia and New Zealand and is the current Chair of the Victorian Medical Experts Committee for Avant Medical Insurance and having been on that committee since its establishment in 2007.
He remains committed to the provision of expert colorectal surgery, delivered in a timely, professional and compassionate manner. Diagnostic and therapeutic colonoscopy, the treatment of patients with colorectal cancer and inflammatory bowel disease are areas of great interest.
