After graduating from Monash University, Dr Catarina Ang completed her basic medical training at Monash Health before travelling overseas to train in Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery as the recipient of a number of national scholarships. Catarina held the role of Clinical Research Fellow at John Radcliffe Hospital at Oxford followed by a Fellowship at the renowned Laparoscopic Centre of excellence in Clermont Ferrand, France. She has been Head of the Gynaecology 1 Unit at the Royal Women's Hospital since 2009, and was the first female surgeon to use robotic surgery technology in Australia in 2012. She holds a Master of Reproductive Medicine, Diplomas in Epidemiology and Surgical Education and a Master of Business Administration. Catarina is Director of the AGES endoscopic program as well as teaching and directing clinical research at Melbourne University. Catarina's areas of special interest are endometriosis, complex fibroid disease, pelvic pain and infertility. She is affiliated with Genea, a leading Australian IVF provider and innovator of reproductive technologies.
