Dr Melanie Freeman is a General and Interventional Cardiologist performing a large volume of coronary angiography and percutaneous interventions, including the use of advanced imaging techniques. Melanie currently holds a staff appointment at Eastern Health, Box Hill Hospital, and is an adjunct senior lecturer within the Eastern Health Clinical School. Melanie has a particular interest in research with over 50 publications in peer-reviewed journals. She is a member of the Victorian working group of the national Women in Cardiology initiative and is employed as a Medical Advisor to Ambulance Victoria. Melanie became a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of Physicians in 2008, having completed her specialist training in Cardiology at the Austin Hospital. She subsequently completed a 2 year Interventional and Structural Fellowship at St Paul's Hospital in Vancouver. During her Fellowship, Melanie trained with Dr John Webb, a world-renowned leader in transcatheter valve therapies, angiography and coronary interventions. Melanie is well regarded for her communication skills and strives towards comprehensive evidence-based care. Her interests include cardiovascular risk factor management, chest pain and coronary artery disease, valvular heart disease and coronary intervention.
