Soong Chua is a Melbourne orthopaedic surgeon specialising in arthroscopic and joint replacement surgery of the shoulder, knee and elbow. He has an interest in arthroscopic rotator cuff surgery, reverse total shoulder replacement and robotic knee replacement. Born and educated in Melbourne, Soong completed his training through the University of Melbourne and the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. He then spent a year in London and Milan, gaining subspecialist expertise in advanced surgical techniques, and has been invited back on multiple occasions for surgical visitations to the USA and Europe with some of the world's leading surgeons. Soong continues to refine his surgical skills, learning advanced techniques and using new technologies for achieving better patient outcomes, and was recently invited to join the highly esteemed group at OrthoSport Victoria. Soong maintains a public appointment at the Austin Hospital, where he is the head of Orthopaedic Unit 2, is a supervisor of training for orthopaedic trainees, and has served as Deputy Director of the Orthopaedic Unit. He is a regular reviewer for Shoulder & Elbow journal and The Orthopaedic Journal of Sports Medicine. Married with young children, Soong is a dedicated family man, and in his downtime, enjoys golf, cricket and supporting the Hawks.
