The long-term effects of COVID-19, including respiratory, neurological and cardiac symptoms, are becoming more apparent.

Professor John Olver, Director of Rehabilitation at Epworth, says 30-40% of hospitalised COVID-19 positive patients are expected to have some ongoing problems.

Epworth’s range of rehabilitation programs, which address many of the physical and mental after-effects of COVID-19, are supporting more of these patients.

This includes our olfactory impairment clinic, which is normally accessed by people who have lost their sense of smell after a traumatic brain injury or after developing Parkinson’s disease.

Prof Olver chatted with Epworth Group Chief Executive Lachlan Henderson about the past few months and what’s ahead.
