What to expect during your visit
Your visit begins with a consultation and physical examination with one of our dedicated female GPs. This includes advice on breast self-examination and care.
You’ll then undergo same-day diagnostic imaging using advanced technology (typically contrast mammograms), provided by our co-located radiology team at Epworth Medical Imaging.
Your GP will explain your imaging results and assess any breast-related symptoms (such as lumps, pain, or nipple discharge). If needed, you’ll receive an immediate referral to a breast specialist - either on-site for a same day consultation or at another Epworth location.
-
Same-day specialist access
If an abnormality is detected, you’ll be referred for a same-day consultation with a breast surgeon. This includes:
- A clinical breast examination
- Cancer risk assessment based on your imaging results
- A tailored care plan
- Further diagnostic testing (e.g. biopsy), typically arranged within 48 hours
-
Routine screening and high-risk assessment
We offer routine breast examinations and screening for:
- Asymptomatic women with average risk
- Individuals with a family history or other factors placing them at high risk of breast cancer
-
