Vision and Mission
The mission of the Jreissati Pancreatic Centre at Epworth (JPCE) is to improve and extend the lives of people with pancreatic cancer by inspiring hope and providing the best possible care to patients in a timely, patient-centred, coordinated and multidisciplinary manner.
Key Activities
Led by Epworth Gastroenterologist, Professor Andrew Metz, the Jreissati Pancreatic Centre brings together expert care, research, and support to improve diagnosis and treatment outcomes for people with pancreatic cancer. The Centre was established to address areas of unmet medical need in pancreatic cancer, with a focus on four key areas:
- Clinical Care - Deliver high-quality and multidisciplinary care across our Epworth Richmond, Eastern, Freemasons, and Geelong sites. Our dedicated Pancreatic Nurse Coordinator and Specialist Pancreatic Nurses act as key contacts, supporting patients and their families throughout their treatment journey.
- Research and Clinical Trials - Stay at the forefront of research developments in pancreatic cancer through a combination of investigator-led, collaborative group and industry-sponsored studies designed to encompass every phase of patient care to deliver outcomes within practical time frames.
- Patient Experience and Advocacy - Empower patients and their families with a unified voice, seamless access to care, and dedicated pancreatic nurse support to navigate diagnosis, treatment, and education for the best possible outcomes.
- Community Education and Engagement - Partner with communities and healthcare providers to improve early detection of pancreatic cancer by promoting awareness of risk factors and symptoms, sharing targeted educational tools, and supporting timely and equitable diagnostic pathways.
