Date: Thursday 5 March 2026
Time: 7.00pm - 8.15pm
Where: Webinar via Zoom. Dial in from your PC/laptop/mobile phone/tablet
Program: 1 presentation with Q&A
Overview
High risk HPV infections and high grade cervical abnormalities have fallen dramatically in young women. Cervical cancer incidence continues to decline, with larger impacts expected over coming decades. Genital warts and other HPV related diseases have decreased significantly, especially in younger vaccinated cohorts. Strong vaccine coverage has driven these trends and supports Australia’s trajectory toward cervical cancer elimination.
This presentation will provide a practical update on Australia's cervical screening guidelines, with a focus on what has changed, why it has changed and how it impacts on day-to-day general practice.
Presenter:
Learning outcomes
- Outline the key updates in Australia's new cervical screening guidelines
- Interpret cervical screening test results, implement appropriate follow up and referral in general practice to optimise patient outcomes
- Identify ways to integrate cervical screening into routine practice to improve patient participation and outcomes
