Overview:
This session will focus on treatment-resistant depression (TRD) - a clinical scenario that is often encountered but not always clearly defined or systematically managed in primary care.
We will explore:
- A clear and practical definition of TRD
- Common reasons for apparent non-response, including diagnostic and treatment factors
- Stepwise management strategies in primary care, including optimisation and augmentation approaches
- An overview of emerging and evidence-based treatments, including Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation and Esketamine
- When and how to refer appropriately, and how GPs can remain central to ongoing care
We encourage GPs to share case studies for group discussion.
