LEARNING OUTCOMES
- Recognize different types of lacerations (clean, contaminated, complex) and determine the need for suturing.
- Assess wound depth, location, and risk factors for infection.
- Prepare the wound area for suturing, including proper cleaning, debridement, and anaesthesia application.
- Demonstrate proficiency in basic suturing techniques, such as simple interrupted, running sutures, vertical and horizontal mattress sutures
- Demonstrate how to perform excision of lesions with appropriate margins, closure techniques, and good cosmetic outcomes.
- Apply the principles of infection prevention to wound care.
- Provide appropriate post-suturing care instructions to patients, including wound care, signs of infection, and timing for suture removal.
