PRESENTATION 3: Prostate symptoms and treatment updates
Dr John Lai, Medical Oncologist
Over the past ten years there has been a paradigm shift with regards to systemic therapy treatment for patients with metastatic prostate cancer. A new group of medications, ARPi (Androgen Receptor Pathway inhibitor), are now available for patients with metastatic prostate cancer and non-metastatic hormone resistant prostate cancer. Different combinations of systemic therapies for the treatment of synchronous and/or metachronous metastatic prostate cancer are also available.
Learning outcome - Describe the updates on current systemic therapy treatment options for prostate cancer, including common side effects and potential complications/medication interactions.
All presentations include interactive case-based discussions common to GP practice to help in the assessment of prostate cancer. Case studies will focus on diagnosis, timing of intervention and advances in management.
